CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

RABINDRA VIDYA NIKETAN is a manifestation of a dream of Late Rabindra Nath Patnaik who desired to provide quality education to the children of this mineral rich yet poor district of Keonjhar. I have only tried to give shape to this institution which has emerged as the finest leaning center in the district in a short span of seven years.

The objective has been to impart creative, innovative and free thinking while aiming at academic excellence and instilling the value system of our great culture.

The learning and teaching space of the school and the surrounding environment has been carefully designed to provide ample opportunities for the children to enjoy the learning process. The boarding is truly a ‘home away from home’ which becomes visible while watching the happy smiling faces and the agility with which they conduct themselves.

RVN has already created a benchmark for quality education in the district and time is not far for this institution to earn the reputation of being a center of excellence for schooling in the state of Odisha.

FROM THE EX-DEAN’S DESK

"Education is not the filling of the pail but it is the lighting of a fire"

– W.B Yeats

We at  RVN  are preparing students for learning beyond their school years and assisting them to become lifelong learners, as well as helping them to be self directed, realistic and responsible decision makers when solving problems that they will encounter in future.

The School provides multifarious opportunities for the children through challenging and stimulating programmes  of work ,so  that they get every chance to learn and enjoy their school day.

The students are getting equipped  with knowledge, skills and the right  attitudes to enable them to succeed with positive self image at any stage, in their life.

FROM THE MENTOR

Jimmy Wales, the co-founder of Wikipedia, told about his first school - “The school was very open-ended, we had a lot of time for reading and independent study. That impacted my later work and the way I think about things today.”

Rabindranath Tagore, the first Nobel Laureate of Asian origin and a great philosopher was educated at home as he lacked interest in going to school.
These instances question the conventional methods of teaching and their role in identifying and nurturing the inherent talent and skills of the children.
Tagore wrote in later part of his life, “A child’s sensitive mind is always eager to receive first-hand knowledge from Mother Nature . . . . lessons are pelted on us form high, like hail stones on flowers.”
Dr. Radhakrishnan felt “The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves.”

At RVN our team is striving to inculcate that ‘independent thinking’ among children through self learning ; the surrounding and the infrastructure of the school is aimed to be conducive to such a learning. A helping hand from any field, lent to empower us in our endeavour is always welcome.
